The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has changed the exam pattern from 9th to 12th from session 2021-22. Now in 9th to 12th class exam, competency based questions will also be asked. According to CBSE, the number of questions and evaluation process in the question paper is being changed from session 2021-22, moving towards Competency Based Education.
As per the new circular, competency-based questions would be about 30 per cent for Classes 9 and 10 and 20 per cent for Classes 11 and 12. CBSE explained that the competency-based questions could be in the form of Multiple Choice Questions, Case-Based Questions, Course-Based integrated questions or any other types.
Reduction in number of short and long questions
The number of these questions will be 30 percent in the 9th and 10th question papers. This will include multiple choice, case based, source based, integrated and other types of questions. While in class 11th-12th, the number of these questions will be 20 percent. The number of short and long questions has been reduced in the question paper from 9th to 12th.
